Who he is
Ratan Tata was an Indian industrialist who led the Tata Group; one of India's largest and most respected companies; as chairman from 1991 to 2012. Under his leadership, Tata grew into a global business, acquiring iconic brands such as Tetley Tea, Corus Steel, and Jaguar Land Rover, and launching the Tata Nano, an affordable car designed to put safe transport within reach of ordinary families.
Skills, talents & what makes him unique
He combined bold, visionary risk-taking with deep humility and ethics. He was known for treating people fairly, for his calm leadership, and for giving back; a large share of Tata's profits flow to the Tata Trusts, which fund education, healthcare, and rural development. What makes him unique is that he proved you can build a global empire while staying honest, modest, and generous.
Why I chose him
Ratan Tata reflects the values I was raised on; work hard, stay humble, and do things the right way. As someone with Indian heritage whose family rebuilt our lives through honest effort, I find his mix of ambition and integrity deeply inspiring. He shows that real success isn't just profit; it's the good you do for the people and communities around you.
